Wildlife
The
Minnesota Northwoods is full of a wide range of interesting wildlife
species rarely seen in other parts of Minnesota. Whether you're
walking on back roads, canoeing on lakes or rivers, hiking on
a trail or even driving down the highway, you are bound to see
some interesting creatures.
Black bears are commonly seen crossing a road or eluding public view. White tailed deer are everywhere and it isn't unusual to spot a deer from your resort cabin, especially in the early morning hours of twilight. There are literally thousands of loons on area lakes, producing the Minnesota Northwoods atmosphere with their haunting calls.
Keep your eyes on the skies to see America's National bird in all her glory gliding effortlessly through our skies. And of course, you will also likely see chipmunks, raccoons, porcupine, timberwolves, moose, fox, otter, muskrat, beaver, and various birds.
