Although the archery season for deer hunting is already in full-swing, the rifle opener is just around the corner! The firearm season runs from November 3 to November 18 in the Minnesota Northwoods.

Make sure you know your zone & permit areas, as they aren’t all the same. The permit areas in the Minnesota northwoods vary in their deer limits and whether or not they are lottery-based.

There are three ways you can register your harvested deer in Minnesota. The first is over the phone with an Interactive Voice Response (IVR). Simply follow the six steps it gives you, and you’re set! Next is over the internet. It has similar steps as registering over the phone, just without the IVR. Lastly, you can go to one of the walk-in big game registration stations.
