Looking to explore Northern Minnesota in a new and adventurous way on your family-friendly vacation? Just looking to try something new? Geocaching is a great way to get the whole family outdoors and exploring! Surrounded by lakes and forests, geocaching in northern Minnesota is unlike anywhere else!

Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunt. Participants are given a specific set of GPS coordinates and, using a GPS device or smartphone, attempt to find the “geocache” hidden at that specific location. Charge up your phone or GPS, because geocaching is a great way to explore the beautiful outdoors of Northern Minnesota during your visit!

To get the coordinates of local geocaches, you first need to sign up for a free membership at Geocaching.com. Once you create and verify your account, you’ll have access to coordinates to hundreds of geocaches in the area. Enter the coordinates of a specific geocache into your GPS device, or use their handy mobile app on your Android or iOS device, and you’re on your way! Once you find the geocache, leave your name in the log, then replace it for the next explorers. Make sure to share your photos and adventures online!

There are hundreds of geocaches in the Minnesota Northwoods, making for as much adventuring as you want!
