fishing retreat

You can’t spend a week in the Minnesota Northwoods without casting a line for a trophy walleye – king of the lake.

We are located in the land of 10,000 lakes so any of our Minnesota Northwoods Resorts would be the ideal setting for a fishing retreat for any occasion. Whether you’re planning a family reunion, bachelor/bachelorette party, or friend celebration, we’ve got you covered when it comes to fishing!

Fishing in Northern MN

Whether you’re a seasoned angler or an amateur, click here for our Minnesota Northwoods fish species and lake guide. Each of our premiere Minnesota resorts are owned and operated by fishing enthusiasts, and each lake is unique in its own way, so it might be a good idea to call your resort ahead to learn about what bait, tackle, and equipment they’d suggest. They can also provide you information about the nearest bait shops and recommend a good fishing guide or taxidermist if you so choose.

Boat Rentals

Many resorts allow you to bring your own boat but you can also rent a fishing boat daily or weekly depending on your needs. If you plan to rent a fishing boat, be sure to mention it when you make your reservation so the resort can reserve it just for you!

There’s no reason why you can’t fish from a kayak, paddle boat or canoe, which are offered for free at some of the resorts. And don’t forget about dock fishing, which is also free!

Cook Your Catch

We think the best part of the day is enjoying your catch of the day! Our Minnesota Northwoods resorts have fish cleaning houses and cabins with kitchenettes which provide all the utensils/cookware you’ll need to cook up the day’s tasty catch. There are also grills and fire pits at several locations if you prefer the more “outdoors” option. The best part about cooking up fresh fish is that it requires minimal ingredients, if any. Just a little bit of oil to fry it in, some salt and pepper and a few lemon wedges, and you’re good to go!
